Over at this Newsday Metsblog Mark Hale writes about the good, and bad so far about mets spring training.
In the sweet section:Fernando Martinez
"Tony Bernazard regarding Martinez's signing, "The number you gave him, you got him cheap!" "I was very impressed with his poise and his presence at the plate," Manuel said. "It wasn't the presence of an 18-year-old. It was the presence of a major league hitter."
Scott Schoeneweis:"who has tossed 6.2 innings in six appearances, giving up no earned runs and surrendering only three hits and four walks "
Pedro Feliciano:"who has fired eight shutout innings, striking out nine. "
Joe Smith:"The sidearmer has given up two earned runs in 8 1/3 innings. "
Mike Pelfrey:"Pelfrey has become the leader to earn a spot in the rotation, thanks to his three terrific spring training outings. "
And the Sour:
Mets bullpen without sanchez
El Duque:Orlando Hernandez has dealt with neck arthritis and on Sunday suffered a right hamstring cramp."
I thought it was weird how he says the main guys in the bullpen are doing well, but then says the bullpen is doing bad. The people in the pen that are having bad springs are most likley the one's not to make the team..
He could of put Lastings Milledge in there as Sweet.
